Institute of Engineers, India (IEI)

The Institution of Engineers (India) [IEI] is a government body established in 1920 to promote engineering and technology. It was incorporated by Royal Charter in 1935. IEI is the largest professional body for engineers, covering 15 engineering fields. It has over 820,000 members and has been serving the nation for more than 90 years. The headquarters is in Kolkata, and it has more than 100 centers across India and several overseas chapters and organizations.

The Institute of Engineers (IE) is very important in all branches of engineering. It plays a key role in promoting professional development, sharing knowledge, and encouraging innovation. Being affiliated with IE gives students and faculty access to many resources, like a network of industry experts, research papers, and opportunities to attend seminars, workshops, and conferences. This partnership between engineering departments and IE improves academic quality and supports continuous learning. It helps students stay updated with industry trends, learn best practices, and develop their skills. Ultimately, it prepares them to face real-world challenges, especially in mechanical engineering. The affiliation with IE shows the commitment to offering students a well-rounded education that links academic knowledge with industry experience for their overall growth and success.

Lendi IEI Student Chapter Inauguration

The student chapters of ECE, EEE, CSE, and MEC departments were inaugurated on 16/11/2013. The chief guest was Prof. M. Purna Chandra Rao, Chairman of the Institution of Engineers (India). The guest of honor was Prof. I. Satyanarayana, Former Chairman of the Institution of Engineers (India). Currently the student chapters have 200 student members and 45 faculty members are participated actively in various events. During the event, ID cards were given to student members.

Lendi Institute of Engineering and Technology is a IEI institutional member in the 2017.

Objectives:

  • To encourage students to improve their personal and social skills.
  • To foster a healthy competitive spirit by participating in events with students from other departments and colleges.
  • To organize expert lectures, workshops, hands-on training, competitions, and career guidance programs for students.
  • To provide a platform for students to interact with industry experts and students from other top engineering institutes.
  • To collect feedback after each program to improve future events.
  • To help students become skilled technocrats with strong human values.

Benefits:

Being a member of the student chapter offers the following benefits:

  1. Technical events like seminars, industrial visits, group discussions, technical quizzes, workshops, and poster/model competitions will be organized throughout the year, sponsored by IEI.
  2. An Annual Students' Convention with a seminar on a current topic and a technical session will be held. This provides a platform for presenting technical papers and networking with peers and senior IEI members.
  3. Members can participate in technical events like seminars, symposia, conventions, and workshops at state, national, and international levels with a 20% discount.
  4. Scholarships will be offered to selected student members by IEI.
  5. IEI provides R&D grants to students for research activities.

Proposed Activities under the IEI Student’s Chapter:

  • Encourage students and faculty to access IEI’s technical publications.
  • Motivate students and faculty to publish technical papers in IEI journals.
  • Assist in applying for and receiving funds from IEI to organize seminars and workshops.
  • Encourage students to participate in competitions like technical quizzes, essay writing, and elocution organized by IEI local chapters.
  • Motivate students and faculty to take part in national and international seminars and workshops organized by IEI across the country.
  • Conduct Engineers day every year in the college.
